Ernie Tarr

Ernie Tarr is a boat builder. For most of his life, he has also been building scale models of boats - - first from kits, and then from scratch. Most of his models are of small sailing class boats, or half-hulls of Gloucester fishing schooners, but he has done a number one-offs - models of the full-size boats he has built. He builds plank-on-frame, or carved-hull models. The models are in 3/16, 1/4/ 1/2/ 3/4, or 1 inch scales. He dimensions his own lumber (basswood, poplar, mahogany, etc.), and either makes his own fittings, or modifies commercially available ones.
