Pat Cummings

Pat has been building model boats (full plank-on-frame and half-hull) from scratch for about 16 years. Most of the full models have been of small one-design sailing classes, sailing dories, and rowing skiffs, although she has built a number of one-offs at owners’ requests. The half-hulls are usually of Gloucester fishing schooners, but there have been a number of one-offs in these also. She works in 3/16, 1/2, 3/8, and 3/4 inch scales. She dimensions her own stock from full-size lumber (basswood, poplar, mahogany, cedar, and occasionally Swiss pear), and either makes the fittings, or modifies commercially available fittings.
